Reports confirm that MG Hector SUV will debut the Indian market by May-end 2019. It will be priced in comparison with Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500.
Recently, we got to know that Benedict Cumberbatch will be the brand ambassador of MG Motors in India. The official testing of MG Hector is ongoing and we now have much information about its engines and features.
Now, fresh reports suggest that the SUV will finally make its debut in India by May 2019. Team-BHP member Raven Avi has disclosed the launch time line. Also, he has given an idea of the price range.
As per the report, MG Hector will be priced in a similar range of Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500. This indicates that we can expect it in a price range of Rs 13 Lakhs to Rs 16 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The assembly and manufacturing plant of MG Motors is in Halol, Gujarat. That’s why most of the vehicle testing is done over there. As of now, it has only been spotted under heavy camouflage.
Hector is based on the Baojun 530, which is widely sold in the Chinese Markets. However, the MG SUV will flaunt a different identity and ofcourse, a decent part of localization.
MG Hector will be available in petrol and diesel variants. A 1.5 Litre turbocharged petrol engine and a Fiat-sourced 2.0 Litre diesel engine, will be available. The petrol engine produces 143 BHP and 250 Nm, while the diesel unit offers 173 BHP and 350 Nm on tap.

Reportedly, the petrol engine will be available with a 6-speed MT gearbox and a dual-clutch automatic option. The diesel engine will first get only 6-speed manual option. Later, it will be available with a 6-speed AT.
Features onboard will include a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, panoramic sunroof, 7-inch driver information display, electric parking brake, electrically adjustable seats, a 360-degree camera and much more.
MG Hector will also be the first vehicle in India to be offered with ‘over-the-air’ technology. The infotainment will house a slot for Sim card, which will offer a variety of services using the mobile data.

The deliveries are expected to commence by June-end. As said earlier, it will go against Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500 squarely. Other competitors will include Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta as well.
