MG Hector – the first connected car in its segment offers a plethora of features on the inside and the bookings period for the same soar high up to 4 months.
MG Motors launched its much-anticipated SUV, Hector, at a starting price of Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bookings for the MG Hector started on June 4 and it’s not been over a month, the new manufacturer has received a total of 12,000 bookings.
MG Hector bookings can be done via dealers or through online at a price premium of Rs 50,000. The brand has received an overwhelming response from the Indian market and the SUV is already seeing a waiting period of 4 months. But will the manufacturer will be able to deliver it SUV as soon as possible? That will be a task.
The deliveries for some units have been started and yesterday Mr Amit Pahwa became one of the first owners to receive the car from a Delhi Showroom. The variant trim is not been disclosed but the SUV stands tall in its Candy White shade.

MG Hector offers a plethora of features on the inside like the large 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The unit also gets i-SMART technology which offers access to over 90+ connected features. Commands like setting HVAC Controls, Opening/closing windows, operating the sunroof and much more.
MG Hector also gives some first in segment features like all-four disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, full LED lighting, front powered adjustable seats and more.
On the outside, the SUV follows a split headlight design and sports a big chunk of chrome lining which outlines the grille. The badging on the front fender and at the rear of the car saying, Internet Inside can be seen. It measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width, 1,760 mm in height and the wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The car surpasses its competition in terms of features and also the exterior design which seems majestic.

MG Motors is available in a total of three engine options – petrol, petrol hybrid and a diesel engine. The diesel engine is FCA sourced, the same as in Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It churns out a total of 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque and gets mated to 6-speed manual transmission.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor generates 143 bhp with a healthy torque of 250 Nm. In this spec, it offers a choice of 6-speed manual transmission of a 6-speed DCT. The 48V hybrid turbocharged petrol motor produces 143 bhp and 250 Nm but offers a 12% more fuel economy than the regular petrol trim which stands at 15.81 kmpl. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency for diesel comes out at 17.41 kmpl and that for petrol it comes around 14.16 kmpl.

MG Hector competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Kia Seltos which is started to launch on 22nd August. The base trim for MG Hector stands at 12.18 lakh and goes up to Rs16.88 lakh for the higher spec (ex-showroom, Delhi).
