MG Hector has received a significant price hike. The popular SUV is now available with a starting price of Rs 15 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Until a few days ago, I would have pitched MG Hector as one of the best-priced SUVs this festive season. It offered a good value for money. Now, the company has announced a new price hike for the Hector SUV models. This disturbs the VFM equation a bit, although the car is still competitively priced. The popular SUV is now available with a starting price of Rs 15 Lakh (ex-showroom). In September this MG Motors announced a reduction in price. Now, it has hiked the price of MG Hector models by up to Rs 40,000. The Diesel models have seen a bigger price hike than the Petrol counterparts. Let’s take a closer look at the revised prices.

Author’s Note
The sudden shift in the price of MG Hector is in line with the pricing dynamics of Indian auto sector. While MG Motor India offers multiple models in different categories, the Hector SUV remains its most popular car. It competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier, and Hyundai Alcazar. The new price adjustments are unlikely to affect the position of MG Hector in the market. The mid-size SUV market is showing healthy growth lately. Despite the arrival of new Tata Harrier/ Safari facelifts and Black Shark Edition Jeep Compass 4X2 AT version, the MG Motos seems confident that the Hector SUV will continue to stand out.
