A petrol MG Hector suddenly stopped working and caught fire. Luckily, all occupants escaped unhurt while onlookers shot videos instead of helping
MG Hector is one of the more popular models in the mid-size SUV segment and was recently in news for receiving a mid-life facelift. Now, though, it’s again being talked about due to a recent fire incident with a petrol variant. While the cause of the fire is unknown at the moment, it’s also not known if the SUV had some aftermarket modifications. There can be many reasons for such a fire incident but so far, the exact cause is not known.

MG Motor India Assures Help to Aggrieved Hector Owner
To share her plight, a relative of the owner of this MG Hector took to social media to post information about the incident. According to what can be made out from the Twitter post, the ill-fated SUV is owned by the brother of one Sonam Singh. She writes: “Today I almost lost my brother in a freak accident. While he and his friend were in the car, the car caught fire! How do you explain this safety MG! The car came back from servicing just a few days ago. How do you explain this horrid incident!! Explain this MG!” Taking notice of the Tweet, MG Motor India was quick to respond to the aggrieved owner and assured help and resolution.
Singh has shared a few pictures of her black-coloured MG Hector petrol automatic that caught fire all of a sudden. Pradeepa, her friend and her pet were in the SUV at the time of the incident. While she was driving the car, she could observe smoke coming out of the hood at the front. Seeing this situation, the car owner, her friend and her pet immediately got out of the car. Soon after, they could see flames rising from under the hood and the SUV entire turned into ashes in no time, leaving behind a completely burnt vehicle.

Actual Cause of Fire Unknown
Furthermore, the Twitter user even shares that she still has no idea about the actual cause of the fire. At the same time, she also condemned the insensitivity and carelessness of the onlookers. As per her, the road users didn’t try to call a fire brigade for help and instead started shooting videos on their smartphones. This incident took place in Hyderabad. From the pictures, it can be understood that the driver was cautious enough to park the vehicle at the side of the road for the safety of others. It is also worth noting the fact that no one got injured and all the occupants escaped the car at the right time.
