The newly launched MG Hector is gaining popularity in India, as it has already crossed 20,000 marks and the bookings have been discontinued temporarily.
MG Motors made its debut in India with the Hector SUV, which is priced starting from Rs 12.18 Lakhs up to Rs 16.88 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is priced competitively against the likes of Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio.
The SUV has gained a lot of interest in our market, as the bookings for the same have crossed the 20,000 mark in just 45 days. ET Auto reports MG Motors has reportedly closed the bookings for Hector due to the overgrowing demand.
The production capacity at its plant in Gujarat is already full for this year. The capacity is likely to be increased up to 3,000 units per month by October 2019. By a rough estimate, the waiting period for an MG Hector could be around 6 months at least.

Meanwhile, the deliveries of Hector have already commenced across India. Dealership sources say that the top-spec Sharp and Smart are the most popular as of now. Officials of the company have confirmed the development and have stated that the re-opening dates will be announced soon.
MG Hector gets three engine options – a 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol, a 1.5 Litre mild-hybrid and a 2.0 Litre turbo-diesel engine. The hybrid and diesel variants only get a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the petrol engine gets an option of a 6-speed DCT as well.
The petrol engine produces 141 BHP and 250 NM of torque. The diesel engine chugs out 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The hybrid engine produces the same power figures, but gives 10-15% more mileage than the petrol version.

MG Hector is India’s one of the earliest cars with advanced connectivity features. The iSmart technology on the car is equipped with a personal e-sim and offers a 10.4-inch touchscreen system with real-time navigation, geofencing, vehicle management, a remote switch for climate control and a voice assistant.
Safety features include front and rear disc brakes, 7-airbags, rear parking sensors, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, front parking sensors, rear camera and follow-me-home headlamps. The SUV is available in five colours – White, Black, Silver, Burgundy Red and Glaze Red.
