The upcoming MG Gloster has been spied testing again ahead of its expected launch in India happening by the festive season of this year.
At the Auto Expo 2020, MG unveiled the Gloster full size SUV that will be launched this year. While it was fully unveiled from the outside at the Expo, we did not get a chance to see its interiors. Ahead of the launch in this festive season, we have some spy shots of the SUV in its final avatar. You can see that only the logo has been covered while the rest of the car continues without any camouflage.
Gloster is based on the Maxus D90 which is sold in the Chinese market. Its dimensions are quite large, going up to 5.05 metres long and 1.93 metres wide. It is built on a ladder frame chassis and will have a massive wheelbase of about 2950mm. So, technically, it is slightly bigger than the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. Gloster will come in a segment above them but in a very close price range.

Reports suggest that Gloster will actually be a rival for Land Cruiser Prado in terms of size and cabin comfort. However, it will cost nearly 50% cheaper than the Prado. The India-spec Gloster will also get unique alloy wheel design and interior bits to name a few other changes expected compared to model on sale elsewhere. The Gloster sports a chunky design and a bold, upright stance.
Under the hood, it will get a 2.0 Litre turbo petrol engine that produces 220 bhp and 360 Nm and will be mated either to a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. There are reports suggesting that it could also get the newly developed 2.0 Litre twin-turbo diesel that belts out 218hp and 480Nm of peak torque. Even it could be offered with a manual and an automatic gearbox.
Features onboard will include 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, cooled/heated seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera on the range topping trims. Safety features such as lane assist, auto parking function, six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, 360-degree camera and much more are expected to come onboard.
