In this latest case, an MG Comet hits a Toyota Innova Hycross from the rear on a highway. Comet is a compact electric car from MG Motors. It is a pure electric car which has been designed as an EV from scratch. That makes it one of the few EVs sold in India which is not a direct conversion from any ICE car. On the other hand, the Hycross is the SUV-ish iteration of the popular Innova. Toyota aims to leverage the success of the Innova moniker in India. That is why the Hycross bears its name and mannerisms. Let us take a look at the details of what happens when these two collide.

The rear section of the Innova Hycross has deformed. The bumper, tailgate, windshield, taillamps and wheel arches have impacted quite a bit. On the other hand, the front section of the Comet has also suffered damage. Still, the side pillars have absorbed the impact quite well. There are no reports of anyone getting injured in this crash. The fact that the damage to the front section of the Comet is relatively less is a testament to the build quality. However, we must mention that we can’t judge the build of any car before the actual crash test has been performed.

What We Think
Most road accidents happen in our country due to the negligence of the drivers. People don’t always follow traffic regulations. While the exact reason for this particular crash is not known, we must advise our readers to always adhere to the laws. In this case, if the driver of the Comet maintained an adequate distance from the car in the front and was vigilant for sudden braking, perhaps, this accident could have been avoided. Let us pledge to be responsible drivers and report anyone who tries to flout the traffic rules.
