With increased heat from new arrivals in the segment, the Astor has been one of the slowest movers on the sales charts. No surprise, then, that MG Motor India is close to launching the mid-cycle facelift for the Astor. While we await the announcement of the official launch date, the new version of the compact SUV has been completely revealed by a handful of spy images.
2024 MG Astor Facelift – What’s New?
- New LED Headlamps and DRLs
- Sleeker Grille and Sportier Bumper
- New Machine-Cut Alloy Wheels
- Revised Rear Bumper Garnish and Bigger Spoiler
- Twin DIgital Screens for cockpit
- New Centre Console with smaller gear lever
These spy pictures showcase a totally undisguised unit of the updated MG Astor. The lack of camouflage is a clear indicator of an imminent launch. These images reveal the updates the Skoda Kushaq-rival gets inside and out. Moreover, they even reveal the new colour option the crossover will offer. Up front, it will have a sleeker fascia with new LED headlamps and DRLs. Even the grille is new and so is the sporty bumper with a pretty big air dam. The spy media even reveals the front camera. Meanwhile, the blue highlight up front hints at the hybrid powerplant the vehicle carries.
Things stay pretty much the same in the side profile. However, the alloy wheels are new and carry a machine-cut finish. Finally, at the rear-end, the updates include a new set of LED taillights, sporty silver garnish on the bumper and a bigger roof spoiler. There’s even an image of the interior that showcases a new dashboard with a twin-digital-display setup. The cabin has an all-black finish, though, there might be more colour options on offer. However, the biggest change comes in the form of a totally new centre console that gets a smaller gear lever, a wireless charger and an electronic parking brake.
Specs, Price and Rivals
Currently, it’s not known if even the powertrains will get an update. However, it’s safe to assume there won’t be a significant difference in the specs. As of now, the Astor is available with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine outputting 110 PS and 144 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a CVT. There’s even a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit that offers 140 PS and 220 Nm. The motor works in tandem with a 6-speed automatic unit. With the launch of the facelift, we might see the introduction of a strong hybrid option for better fuel efficiency and performance.
MG Astor is currently priced at Rs 9.98 – 17.90 Lakh (ex-showroom). As is understandable, the facelift could cost a tad more. Upon launch, the MG Astor facelift will have to fend off the heat from new C-SUVs like the Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming 2024 MG Astor Facelift.
