After revealing the sales report for 2020, Mercedes also announced its future plans to remain at the top spot in the Indian luxury car segment. Having sold over 2,850 units in the last three months alone, the recovery after the pandemic has been stark and overwhelming. Mercedes-Benz ended the year strongly in India by staying on the top spot with 7,893 units sold in 2020 as the luxury carmaker. BMW came in a close second with over 6,600 units sold in 2020. Now Mercedes has planned to launch 15 new or updated products in 2021, along with the local assembly of the Maybach S580.

Mercedes-Maybach S580 – Interiors
Mercedes is starting local assembly of its Maybach S580 mega-luxury model at its Chakan plant in Pune. The S-Class is already getting assembled on the same line. The Maybach S580 is one of the most comfortable and luxurious cars in India because of its largest wheelbase of 3396mm. The length of the S580 is a comfortable 5,469mm which lends an extremely spacious rear seat comfort include great legroom to stretch out your legs. The interiors host all sorts of latest technology and convenience features as it is specially catered to the rear-seat comfort. Without a doubt, it will be a chauffeur-driven product with all the tech-oriented towards rear-seat passengers.

To get a bit technical, the Maybach S580 will come with the MBUX Infotainment System from Mercedes, a 12.8-inch OLED Infotainment System Screen, a 12.3-inch 3D DIgtial Instrument Cluster for Driver’s Info and multiple screens for the rear passengers. Apart from that, there a ton of convenience features to keep the rear passengers busy like a reclining rear seat with massage function, along with Active Ambient Lighting and powered seats. There will be features like rear-wheel steering.
Mercedes-Maybach S580 – Engine, Transmission and Price
The new Mercedes-Maybach S580 will come with a more powerful engine than before. The new engine will be a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 unit making an impressive 500hp and 700Nm. This engine will also be paired with a 48-volt hybrid setup and a four-wheel drivetrain. This improves the traction and driving dynamics of the 2.2 ton S580. The price for the new Mercedes-Maybach S580 will start at Rs 2.2 Cr

Mercedes-Benz will launch 15 new products in 2021
We have a list of some 15 launches that Mercedes has planned for India in 2021. For example, there will be the arrival of the new A-Class Limousine, the second-gen Mercedes-Benz GLA and Mercedes AMG GT Back Series which produces a whopping 730hp. Thereafter, the new S-Class will also launch in 2021, facelifted E-Class will feature in the list too. These are some of the models and variants we know of. For all the other models and launches we will have to wait until the launches. Nevertheless, 2021 promises to be an exciting year for our industry in general and Mercedes-Benz India in particular.
