The coupe-SUV has been made popular by luxury cars like BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe but the format looks great even on Tata Nexon EV
It’s raining coupe-SUV news! Hours earlier, we reported about the Mahindra XUV900, an upcoming flagship that will take on the Toyota Fortuner. Now, we have a video of the making of the Tata Nexon EV Coupe in a digital rendering. A brain child of SRK Designs, this new version of India’s most affordable electric SUV looks production ready and we really wish Tata Motors really considers coming up with something like this. Check out the video below-
The Coupe-SUV body style was made famous by the BMW X6. The unconventional look of the X6 did have the purists scream sacrilege but it was soon to catch the fancy of anyone who wanted to own a vehicle with the virtues of the X5 but in a trendy jumpsuit instead of corporate wear. The success of the X6 even led to the advent of the Range Rover Evoque and, more recently, the Mercedes GLE Coupe. Even our homegrown carmaker, Mahindra had a go at the SUV-coupe fashion with the Aero Concept and now, the rendering we have here, visualizes the Tata Nexon in the same flavor.
The video starts with the top-spec Tata Nexon EV in teal blue colour and the next few frames show the artist extending the tail-end and working on the C-Pillar to give it a more sloping form. To make the posterior a more fluid look, the artist then works on integrating the extended tail section with the revised C-pillar. Furthermore, he adds a rear quarter glass to complete the fastback look of the SUV. After giving the rear-end a smoother finish, the illustrator updates the front-end with a body-coloured front grille panel and Harrier-like multi-port headlamp arrangement with hood-level LED DRLs and a headlamp pod positioned at a lower level.
The Tata Nexon EV features a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that produces a maximum power of 127bhp and a peak torque of 240Nm. The motor draws juice from a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack while transmission is handled by a single-speed unit. The electric SUV has an ARAI-tested range of 312 km.
