BMW X6 has been quite successful in terms of sales and profits, and now Mercedes-Benz has decided to play the perfect gate-crasher to BMW’s party by coming up with the stunning Mercedes GLE Coupe to rival the popular BMW Coupe-crossover. The car has been revealed through a set of studio images ahead of its world premier in 2015. Among the highlights of the design of this almost perfect amalgam of SUV and Coupe is its prominent grille section and LED headlamp. The new GLE Coupe, in a manner typical of such models, is distinctively sporty and yet has all the robustness that comes with an SUV. The new model also gets impressive 10-spoke mag wheels. The front and rear fascia of the car looks similar to that of the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe.
Talking about the interiors, the GLE Coupe will come equipped with premium features such as an advanced infotainment display, panoramic sunroof,sports steering and sports seats. The high quality cabin of this elegant coupe comes with carbon-fiber trim, aluminium and wood decor. The rear seat bench and 1650 litre luggage compartment of GLE coupe are claimed to be the widest in its class.
The new model will be available in diesel- GLE 350d 4MATIC and petrol -GLE 400 4MATIC variants. The GLE 350d 4MATIC will enjoy a max power of 258 PS and peak torque of 620 Nm. The petrol GLE 400 4MATIC model will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 engine churning out 333 PS of power and 480 Nm of peak torque. The AMG Sports variant of this car– GLE 450 AMG will be powered by a V6 bi-turbo petrol engine producing 367 HP of maximum power and 520 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come paired to 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with 4MATIC AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system.
Talking about the new model, Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mereceded-AMG GmbH said,”The GLE 450 AMG Coupe is our first sports model,and further highly emotional and performance-oriented models will follow in the near future. The new product line from Mercedes AMG has allowed us to make true sports car technology and the fascination of motorsports more accessible. ”
