Rumors were about Mercedes Benz developing the new CLA which will be the company’s new entry level sedan. As we all know BMW is the new leader of the luxury car market and has taken the crown from Mercedes Benz. The reasons may be different and many but one of the major reason is the lack of any volume generating offering in the Mercedes Benz stable. And now as the new CLA has been spied it has been confirmed that it is likely to reach the market soon.
BMW and Audi are new hot sellers of the market with the introduction of new X1 and Q3 respectively and Mercedes is lacking behind as it has only C, E and S class range of cars to offer. These German automobile rivals are making all their efforts to get to the top spot. Mercedes Benz recently introduced its new MPV like Sports Tourer Mercedes B class which we reviewed in depth.

Now talking of the new CLA, it will be an entry level sedan and will be placed below the C class. This new Mercedes will be a five door saloon and will surely help the company to generate volume sales. Looking at the spy pictures, even though the car is highly camouflaged still one thing is so obvious when one takes a look at it that is looks premium. The car has a nice front with projector headlamps and LED’s and same is the rear with very nicely styled tail lamps. We expect the car to be influenced by the C class and according to the information in concept form the dimensions of the new CLA is also similar to the C class.
It will be based on the MFA platform it will have a wheelbase of 2,699 mm which is similar to A class as both are based on the same platform. To power the new CLA Mercedes Benz might use its 1.8 litre turbocharged engine which produces 201 BHP, the same is seen in the C class. Expect an AMG variant too.
The new Mercedes Benz CLA looks very promising and will be reviled officially in 2013.When launched in India it will compete with the Skoda Superb, Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat etc. BMW is also developing its new 1 series in this segment where the CLA class will be placed.. When both the CLA and 1 series will hit the market it will interesting to see how well they appeal customers and yet maintain the brand image.
