Mercedes-Benz claims an operating range of 700 km for the Vision EQS and it can do the 0-100 kph sprint in under 4.5 seconds, and has looks to get you down on your knees.
Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off the Vision EQS at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Following the Mercedes-Benz EQC which is an SUV, this electric sedan defines the next phase in Mercedes’ electric car chapter and is really an all-electric iteration of the S-Class. And boy, it is loaded with gadgets and gimmicks!
Let’s start with the design first. Looking at it in first glance, don’t you already see the S-Class in the overall profile of the Vision EQS? Whatever the case may be, it sure is a head turner. The body is adorned with smooth flowing curves giving it an extremely elegant and sleek design, almost making it appear like a one-piece body. There’s also a very thin illuminated blue strip that runs around the entire car, separating the two-tone color finish.
However, what really grabs your attention is the grille that consists of 188 individual LEDs on a black panel section, along with digital headlights that lends a 3D effect to the front area. Too futuristic! The illuminated look continues at the rear with 229 LEDs around the bodywork shaped like miniature three-pointed stars.
The interiors of the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS are still in the concept form. The dashboard is garnished with a portrait format infotainment screen. The dashboard itself then blends into the front of the cabin. The door panels also get their individual screens for god know what functions. Mercedes has also equipped the Vision EQS with autonomous driving technology up to level 3. Other technical gizmos include a future iteration of Mercedes’ MBUX system, s rectangular steering wheel and gloss-black finish with with stripes on the dashboard.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS are two electric motors at the front and the rear. They produce a combined output of 488PS of power and 760Nm of torque which shoots the Vision EQS from 0-100kmph in under 4.5 seconds. It has a top-speed in excess of 200 kph. Mercedes also claims a rather long range for the Vision EQS with an operating range of upto 700km according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure. It also comes with a 350kw charging capacity that can recharge the batteries to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz has certainly made a statement with the Vision EQS at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The design is stunning and it packs a whole lot of technology. It also seems promising with its long operating range and performance figures as claimed by Mercedes, are nothing too shy. It remains to be seen as to how much of this concept materializes into the production form of this car.
