- Mercedes has been a brand associated with luxury and safety.
- This video clip shows the old version of the luxury sedan colliding with the new version at high speed.
- The results are quite fascinating, to say the very least.
In this video, an old Mercedes-Benz S680 W140 is seen hitting a new Mercedes-Maybach S680 W223 at high speed to simulate the build quality. Mercedes-Benz as always been a carmaker focused on luxury, performance and safety. It is because of all these factors that these products are expensive compared to the mass-market vehicles in any market. But these are also the reasons why the elites in the society opt for them if their budget permits. Let us take a look at this unique simulation that is so real-life that one can’t figure out if it is a part of the game or not.

Mercedes-Benz S680 W140 vs Maybach S680 W223
The video clip and the simulation has been created by Game UnioN on YouTube. This channel features detailed simulations of various cars and the impact they will suffer when hit by another car at various speeds. In this instance, the cars involved are the Mercedes-Maybach S680 and Mercedes-Benz S600 W140. The latter model was launched in the USA around 1991, while the former is what is on sale in many markets today. Therefore, this experiment showcases the status of the build quality of Mercedes products 3 decades apart.

The first few attempts were done at 20 – 60 km/h speeds. The car is parked sideways against a wall. The other is made to travel a the desired speed and hit the parked car from the side. In the case of the older Merc, the side pillars and body panels have suffered moderate damage. However, the newer model has suffered relatively lesser damage in each round. However, after 80 km/h, both cars experience deformed side doors. But the damage is still slightly more in the older variant.

Strong Build Across Generations
At speeds of 100 km/h, the older version suffers total loss and the condition of the newer model is not better either. Then the simulation considers the speed of 120 km/h. By this time, the entire side profile including doors, side pillars and roof are completely destroyed. Finally, the speed of 200 km/h results in both cars actually passing through the side and ending up hitting the wall on the other side. This test shows that Mercedes has always made rugged products with a strong build and the trend continues even now. What are your thoughts on this?
