It looks like German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has done a good business in India with its Mercedes-Benz GLA- Class SUV, which is witnessing waiting periods while Mercedes GLA45 AMG has reportedly been sold out in India in 2014. Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz told ZigWheels that GLA-Class SUV has a waiting period of two-three months depending on model and the units are falling short of the demand.
This elegant SUV which made its debut in India earlier this year in September 2014 has already been sold out and it tasted huge success before its launch since it witnessed more than 600 pre launch bookings in just 18 days. It comes as CBU (Completely Built Up) unit in India. And due to huge demand of the car its customers are facing waiting periods of as long as 2-3 months.
Specifications of Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class
This luxurious and sporty car is the winner of ‘Most Beautiful Car of the Year’ award. The Mercedes-Benz GLA is available with two engine options- 2 litre petrol engine(GLA 200) and 2.2 litre diesel engine (GLA 200 CDI). GLA 200 CDI diesel comes in two variants- Sport and Style while GLA 200 petrol comes only in Sport variant.
The 2 litre petrol engine churns out 181 BHP of peak power at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1200-1400 rpm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in mere 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 225 km/h.
The 2.2 litre diesel engine churns out maximum power of 134 BHP at 3600–4400 rpm and a peak torque of 300 Nm at 1600-3000 rpm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 205 km/h.
Both the diesel and petrol engines are mated to a 7G-DCT 7 speed dual clutch transmission. The dimensions of the car are 4417 x 1804 x 1494 mm (Length, Width and Height respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2699 mm and ground clearance of 183 mm. Equipped with all these features, this car is a blend of sporty design and dynamic performance.
This car comes equipped with numerous features like hill start assist, BAS, ASR, ESP which come as standard. It also features reversing camera and rear centre armrest cruise control.
Price and Availability
Since this car is witnessing a waiting period of two-three months, it is expected to be available again at the Mercedes-Benz dealership across India early next year in 2015 at the following prices (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi)-
- The GLA 200 CDI Style is available at a price of Rs. 32.75 lakh
- GLA 200 CDI Sport is priced at Rs.36.9 lakh
- GLA 200 Sport is available at Rs. 36 lakh
- GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC is available at Rs. 69.60 lakh
