Renowned German premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has launched the new AMG GT S in India at an official event in New Delhi. The German Giant has seen tremendous growth in India in the first half thanks to new launches and existing models posting a 41% increase in sales. The Mercedes AMG GT is the successor to the SLS AMG ,which has seen unprecedented sales success. The AMG GT is the flagship car from Mercedes’ in-house performance brand, AMG and competes with the likes of the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Mercedes AMG GT S India Launch
As we said, the Mercedes AMG GT S India launch took place at an official event in New Delhi today. The AMG GT S becomes the German car maker’s 14th launch this year out of a total of 15 launches planned for 2015.
Price
In the UK, the Mercedes AMG GT costs around INR 1 Cr for the entry level model. In India, however, the import duties have ensured that the AMG GT S is priced at INR 2.4 Cr (ex-showroom)

Powering the Mercedes AMG GT S is an all new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 that produces a max. power of 503 bhp and peak torque is 650 Nm. The Mercedes AMG GT S boasts of a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.7 seconds. The 4.0 litre V8 is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Aluminium is used for the body construction to keep the weight in check which tips the scales at just 1.6 tonnes.

Design
The Mercedes AMG GT is an evolution of the SLS AMG’s design but is now shorter and lighter giving it better driving dynamics. The front gets an unmistakable Mercedes family face with large 3 pointed star logo in the centre of the grille. The AMG GT ditches the gullwing door that were a characteristic feature of the SLS AMG in favour of more conventional ones. The overall shape, long bonnet short rear, bears some resemblance to the SLS but is a lot curvier now.
The Mercedes AMG GT India adds to the already growing supercar market in India which has already seen the re-entry of Ferrari and other high profile launches.
