Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé in India at Auto Expo 2020. Mercedes will be bringing the AMG GT 4-door coupe only in the top-spec GT 63 S guise. It is priced at Rs 2.42 crores (ex-showroom).
The AMG GT 4-door was globally unveiled in 2018 and its built on the same platform as the E-Class and the CLS. It was the fifth dedicated model from the AMG brand, following the SLS coupé and roadster, and the two-door GT coupé and roadster. In its range-topping 63 S guise, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 639 bhp. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
The Mercedes AMG GT 4-door Coupe is a handsome looking car. It gets the typical AMG styling elements and borrows a lot from the two-door AMG GT. The face gets the AMG Panamericana grille with bold AMG bumpers. The car is particularly very attractive in profile, reminiscent of a fastback with a long bonnet and coupé-like roofline. On the inside, the cabin is similar to all newer Mercedes cars with twin digital screens for the infotainment display and the instrument console. The centre console runs through the entire length of the car from the dashboard, making it a four-seater.
Apart from the launch of the AMG GT 4-door Coupe, Mercedes will also showcase the A-Class sedan in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be launched in the country later in the year. The sedan is set to be showcased in its AMG A35 spec at the Expo. Along with this, Mercedes will also be showcasing the recently revealed GLA along with the all-electric Mercedes EQC SUV.
Mercedes recently showcased the EQC SUV in India at an event with the announcement of the launch of the EQ brand in India. The electric SUV has been confirmed for a launch in India in April this year. The EQC will be showcased at the Expo in its Edition 1886 spec, which features unique trim finishes and more kit as compared to the standard SUV. Other cars at Mercedes’ stall will include the soon-to-launch Mercedes GLE, the GLC facelift, the E-class and its range of Maybach sedans. Also present will be an all-electric air mobility concept, the Volocopter.
