Mercedes Benz has official released the images and details of the Mercedes A Class concept hatchback car. The concept car is a showcase of the design language and elements which have been proposed for the production model. The real production car will borrow many elements form this concept A Class. The A class concept car to be featured at the Auto Shanghai show in April 2011 is a two door four seater luxury car with powerful 210 BHP powerhouse.
On the front grille, the brand logo appears to be surrounded by a starry sky. Where there are usually apertures or louvres, the radiator grille consists of numerous metallic silver “dots” on black stems. This theme is reflected in the design of the wheels. A very special effect is created by the lights of the Concept A-Class, as the innovative full-LED high-performance headlamps repeat the starry sky motif with numerous lighting points. The daytime running lamps consist of 90 optical fibers with aluminum sleeves, and they are arranged in a wing-shape within the headlamp.
The concept features a BlueEFFICIENCY unit is combined with the new Mercedes-Benz dual clutch automatic transmission for a comfortable drive. A smartphone is fully integrated into the operating concept of the Concept A-Class. All the applications, services and features of a digital lifestyle can therefore be operated via COMAND Online. The visual presentation of the display screen elements is unique and revolutionary. Dynamically varied glass elements are illuminated by magenta-coloured light to form three-dimensionally arranged navigation levels.
Amazingly attractive are the key words that characterize the appearance of this car and being the smallest product of the manufacturer’s line-up, a lot would be expected from this new hatchback. The new generation A-class shares its MFA platform with the Mercedes B Class and will compete against Volkswagen Golf and Audi A1 when introduced in the production form.
I believe that you are spellbound by the sheer beauty of this baby benz but the disappointment lies in the fact that it is not the actual production model and is just a concept one. The market ready model would sport 5 doors instead of the 3 doors styling adopted in the concept model.
On the interiors the whole of the designing has been greatly influenced by the elements like winds & waves and proving it is the picture produced above. The body lines and shaping on the exterior keep you amazed as well. Coming to the technical aspect, the car is said to sport a 2.0 Litre Turbocharged, 4-cylinder MPFI petrol engine capable of producing a maximum power of 210 BHP. The engine is mated with a dual clutch transmission which powers the front wheels of the car.
The exterior design of the Concept A-Class features the combination of defined edges and free interplay with the body surfaces the Mercedes-Benz first showed in the F 800 Style. The side view is structured by three prominent lines: the front structural edge above the front wing forms a dropping line, while the prominent shoulder muscle above the rear axle underlines the car’s coupé-like character. A further line extends upwards from the rear wheel arch in a sweeping curve.
The production version of Mercedes A Class small hatchback will be made with price point in mind and may debut in price sensitive economies like India in the coming years.
