The allegations comprise of using a vehicle with a fake registration number (ML 02 A 0001) for official purposes. This case was initiated by GK Iangrai who is a suspended officer of the Meghalaya Police Service. The FIR was lodged at Shillong’s Sadar Police Station. In response, the DGP cited security concerns for this number plate and expressed his willingness to cooperate with any investigation.
Our View
This is a classic case of how the law should be implemented. While we don’t have full details of this case and would refrain from passing on any judgment, it is great to see that no one is above the law. If you know your constitution and find anyone doing something wrong, the Indian constitution can be used appropriately to ensure that justice is served regardless of your designation. That is how law and order should work in an ideal world. It is unfortunate that people in power misuse their designation to do foul activities. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this case.
