A rather impressive case has emerged where an aftermarket car shop shows a Maruti WagonR modified into a VW Beetle. I have been covering a lot of compelling replicas for a while now. The craze around transforming a regular mass-market car into premium high-end vehicles is catching up lately. Aftermarket car modification houses have access to all sorts of spare parts and other components from all across the globe. Hence, they are able to convert any vehicle into just about any other car. This is a prime example of that. Let us dive deep into the details of this latest instance.
Maruti WagonR Modified into VW Beetle
This video comes from MAGNET CUSTOMS on YouTube. The host explains the detailed process of restoring this unique replica. Note that the owner had already converted it into the Beetle some time ago. But the existing condition of the vehicle is quite poor. Hence, they took it to this car shop. The mechanics commence with repainting the entire car. For this, they first rip off the colour of the body. Thereafter, they apply the base prime, first coat, second coat and clear coat to ensure that the natural shine of the paint comes through. Once the paintjob is complete, the host walks us through the other modifications.
At the front, there are round headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators. The entire front fascia has been constructed using metal and the shape has been given by hand. There are curves around the bonnet and bumper to remind one of the original Beetle. On the sides, the elements inspired by the Beetle become apparent. The rear doors have been removed along with the roof. This is a convertible Beetle with frameless windows. Moving to the rear, we get to witness the iconic round taillamps and an extended fender area. This replica even gets VW logos at the front, rear and on the steering wheel. The other interior layout and features have been retained from the donor model.
Our View
It is fascinating to experience how ambitious aftermarket car modification houses have become in recent times. They have access to ideas on the internet and they source spare parts and other components from anywhere in the world. Hence, they are able to transform just about any car. Most people offer their budget cars to convert them into premium cars. In this way, they get to experience something truly unique without spending exorbitant amounts of money. In fact, the host even shows a vintage car based on a Maruti 800 and a Lamborghini based on a Honda Civic already in the works. I expect to bring the details of those products once they are finished as well.
