Many successful cars like Celerio, Alto K10 and Ciaz later, Maruti Suzuki is now moving forward to launch a rather interesting car in the fast expanding MPV segment. As revealed earlier, this car has been internally codenamed as – Maruti YJC MPV and will be launched sometime next year. In terms of positioning, this model will be slotted much below the highly successful Ertiga MPV (or LUV as they call it). Though, this development has not been confirmed by Maruti, it still looks likely that the carmaker might launch this vehicle to bridge the gap between hatchbacks and the Ertiga. In all chances, this MUV will be inspired from WagonR 7-seater MPV, which has been already showcased in Indonesia. The India-spec WagonR comes with a 1.2 litre K Series Engine churning out 67 BHP of maximum power at 6200 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. It is priced between 5-7 lakh.

Maruti is reportedly working with Japanese companies to build this car. Reportedly Maruti has sent proposals for designing and sourcing components of this compact MPV to its vendors and suppliers. Nothing official about the launch date has been revealed. Yet, it is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2016 with a target of producing around 80,000 units in the first year. Just like Ertiga, it may be sold in India as well as South East Asian markets. Ertiga is exported to South East Asian markets and is doing quite well there. So, YJC may also be expected to be exported there.

With its AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) cars, Maruti is already doing good business in India In AMT cars, the driver doesn’t need to press the clutch pedal. A hydraulic system is supposed to supervise the gear shifting. It already has attracted a lot of customers by giving them an easier and stress free ride. The launch of YJC MPV car in India will further boost up the company’s sales. This all new MPV will be more spacious and comfortable. It is expected to compete with Datsun Go+ MPV which is all set to be launched in India in 2015.
