A talented digital artist has come up with a unique illustration of Maruti WagonR which has been inspired by the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser. Yes, these two cars belong to the extreme ends of the spectrum. But that is the beauty of the digital realm and unbridled imagination. Note that this is certainly not the first time products of these two carmakers have had a mashup. In the real world, Suzuki and Toyota have a joint venture under which both use each other’s cars under their names. This is particularly common in India and South Africa. Some of these include Baleno-Glanza, Vitara Brezza-Urban Cruiser, Grand Vitara-Hyryder, Celerio-Vitz, Ertiga-Rumen, etc.

Maruti WagonR from Land Cruiser
This image comes from the Rushlane Memelane page on Facebook. It showcases a unique rendition of the budget-friendly WagonR. The front fascia is quite attractive. It holds the iconic front grille of the latest Land Cruiser LC300. It envelopes the front section of the hatchback with horizontal slabs of chrome neatly integrating into the LED DRLs and the headlamp cluster on the top and merging with the bumper down below. There are horizontal fog lamps on the extreme edges of the bumper and a rugged bumper. The side profile remains the same.

Both these Japanese auto giants leverage each other’s strengths to expand their operations in international markets. Depending on the market needs, they are able to grow significantly. For instance, in India and South Africa, Maruti Suzuki makes cars in India and export to SA as well. Toyota sells these under its name. On the other hand, the latest cars under this cooperation have been developed by Toyota including the powertrain and sold by Maruti Suzuki like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross.

Powertrains
For cars like the Baleno-Glanza, Brezza-Urban Cruiser and Grand Vitara-Hyryder, Maruti is supplying its tried and tested engines. Therefore, Toyota simply puts its badge and sells it. However, the strong hybrid engine on the Hyryder has the Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre engine which allows incredible fuel efficiency. Therefore, both manufacturers are able to bring their strengths to the table. Ultimately, it is the customers who stand to benefit from this. They can choose whichever carmaker or powertrain they want to opt for. Finally, we will keep getting such interesting digital concepts from enthusiastic designers.
