The Maruti Wagon R EV, as you must be aware, is going to be the first all-electric car from Maruti Suzuki in India. The homegrown automaker has already confirmed that it is going to launch this vehicle in India sometime during the year 2020.
Maruti recently revealed to the media and public that it has begun the testing phase of the prototype of this vehicle on Indian roads. A total of 50 such prototypes are currently roaming all-over India.
We at CarBlogIndia have managed to snap one such prototype testing on Delhi roads. We even got a chance to shoot a small video.
Maruti Suzuki is working in collaboration with Toyota for its all-electric vehicle project. The two companies have signed an agreement under which both will share technologies as well expertise for the development of electric vehicle technology and new products.
Under this, both the companies will provide each other with select vehicles. These will then be rebadged, slightly redesigned and sold through the other automaker’s dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki is going to provide its Vitara Brezza as well as the Baleno to Toyota. While on the other hand, Toyota is going to do the same for its Corolla Altis.
Coming back to the Maruti Wagon R EV, this all-electric vehicle is going to use a Lithium-ion battery pack. The technology for the battery has been developed in accordance with Toyota and Toshiba.

It is likely that Maruti Suzuki is going to manufacture the Wagon R EV at its new Gujarat facility. The reason for that being there is a new battery manufacturing facility coming nearby.
However, it could also be the case that Maruti decides to manufacture the Wagon R EV at its Haryana facility where it currently manufactures the current iteration of the gasoline-driven Wagon R hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm an official launch date of the Wagon R EV in India.
Being an all-electric vehicle, there is every reason to believe that the Maruti Wagon R EV is going to cost somewhere in-between the likes of INR 7 lakh to 10 lakh.
However, Maruti Suzuki is known for keeping the prices of its products very competitive.
