Check out this drag race between Maruti Vitara Brezza and Maruti S-Cross. The results are shocking as both of them produce the same power.
Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross were the last ones from the manufacturer to lose their diesel engines. All Maruti cars initially came with the 1.3 Litre MJD engine that was good for 81 PS in the smaller cars and 90 PS for the bigger cars. However, Ciaz and Ertiga got the new 1.5 Litre diesel engine that was developed by Maruti itself.
Here’s a drag race between Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross, which will give some unexpected answers. Both of them get diesel engines producing the same 90 PS. As the race begins, the S-Cross takes an early lead and continues to maintain it for a couple of seconds. However, soon Vitara Brezza overtakes it by a couple of inches.

Soon, after some seconds, Maruti S-Cross takes the lead only to become the winner in the first round. Coming to the second round, both of them start at the same point but again, the crossover manages to move ahead by a small distance. While moving into the fourth gear, Maruti Vitara Brezza takes on the lead but in the end, loses out to the S-Cross again.
Vitara is lighter than the other by atleast 100 kilograms. Despite being lighter and producing the same engine, it did not accelerate faster than the S-Cross. In both the rounds, the SUV managed to move ahead in the fourth gear. But on the final top-speed run, S-Cross easily overtakes it to become the winner.
In this case, the aerodynamics of S-Cross might have helped it in becoming a winner. The shape of Vitara Brezza seems to create a small resistance to the wind, mainly because it is an upright SUV. You can even see both of them touching their high speeds at the same RPM.

Now, both of them have lost their diesel engines. Maruti Vitara Brezza gets a 1.5 Litre petrol engine that is good for 104 PS and 138 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed MT and a 4-speed AT. The same engine will soon come on the S-Cross as well, along with the same transmission options. The launch of S-Cross petrol is going to happen this week.
