Maruti is soon going to launch the Vitara Brezza Petrol Manual with the Smart Hybrid System, which will then offer more mileage than the AT variants.
Maruti launched the Vitara Brezza Petrol last month, with a starting price of Rs 7.34 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The new petrol engine is a 1.5 Litre K15B unit, taken from Ciaz, XL6 and Ertiga. The diesel engine has been discontinued completely and is not available at dealerships as well.
The petrol engine produces 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 5-speed MT and a 4-speed torque converter AT. Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology only comes on the automatic variants. That’s why it is more fuel-efficient than the manual variants.
Going by the leaked reports, Maruti is going to launch the Vitara Brezza Petrol manual with the SHVS technology. Most likely, it will be available even on the base variant. As of now, the deliveries have not commenced, so mostly, all the new units will get the SHVS.

The manual variant now offers a claimed mileage of up to 17.5 kmpl. In comparison, the AT variant offers 19 kmpl with the mild-hybrid system. The technology helps in initial acceleration, start-stop technology and also improves the mileage by 10-15%. We are expecting the manual variants to now come with a claimed mileage of 20 kmpl.
The price range of Brezza Petrol starts at Rs 7.34 Lakhs going up to Rs 11.40 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It is available in its original variant list – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. In comparison to the rivals, Brezza is priced completely at par. The BS4 version used to be a bit cheaper.
Features onboard Brezza Petrol are just a couple more than the BS4 version. The list now includes:
- Auto headlamps
- Auto wipers
- LED projector headlamps
- Cruise control
- Steering mounted audio controls
- Front and rear armrest
- Rear AC vents
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- SmartPlay Studio Touchscreen Infotainment System
- Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Voice Assist
Safety features are the same with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Rear Parking sensors with a rearview camera and auto-dimming IRVMs. Brezza has received a four-star safety rating in the global NCAP crash tests, held last year.
