An official image teases the new-age Maruti Suzuki CNG cars set to launch soon. The two vehicles shown in the visuals are Fronx and Brezza. Additionally, I anticipate the CNG iteration of the latest Swift too. Hence, the largest carmaker in the country is prepping to update its CNG lineup with fresh technology. CNG is a great option for city dwellers to experience a powertrain with low running costs. Petrol and diesel prices keep rising regularly. Hence, to reduce ownership costs, CNG comes out to be an excellent choice. Let us take a look at what to expect from the new Maruti Suzuki CNG cars.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki CNG Cars
The teaser/trailer has been uploaded on the official marutisuzukiofficial handle on Instagram. It captures the Fronx and Brezza doing adventurous activities in desert conditions. However, the main attraction of this video clip is the focus on the CNG sticker pasted on the rear windshield of these vehicles. The caption of the post reads, “Can you hear it? Can you feel it? The rumble in your heart. Thatโs the sound of something exciting coming your way! Get ready to see S-CNG like youโve never seen it before.” This is evidently an announcement of the new tech with the CNG cars.
Clearly, Maruti Suzuki is planning something innovative. It already boasts the largest portfolio of CNG cars in the country. What could be new is the fact that it can offer a setup which allows two CNG cylinders of smaller capacity instead of the existing setup with a single large capacity cylinder. That will liberate considerable boot space which remedies the biggest issues with CNG cars. In fact, Maruti already uses this technology in its Super Carry LCV. Hence, it is no stranger to this configuration. Also, Tata Motors already uses this in its CNG cars. Apart from that, another key upgrade to new Maruti Suzuki CNG cars could be the option of an automatic transmission. Currently, buyers can only have CNG versions with a manual gearbox.
Our View
Now, CNG is gaining a lot of prominence as fuel prices rise. Frustrated with inflation, they often look for alternatives to own a car with low running costs. Since the EVs are still significantly more expensive than their ICE counterparts, CNG looks like the only feasible alternative. In the cities, the infrastructure is already well-developed. Also, the fact that one could switch between CNG and petrol gives peace of mind to the owners. Let us keep an eye out for what’s new with the CNG cars of Maruti Suzuki. Initially, we expect to see the Fronx and Brezza with this technology, followed by Swift and other cars.
