Maruti has launched a new DLX edition of the Swift. The popular hatchback has lost some of its prospective buyers to the new Baleno. Hence, a sales push could work well. Maruti Swift DLX is based on the existing LXi/LDi trims and has a starting price of INR 4.54 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The car comes with additional features and a small price bump over the standard model. The new DLX edition will help Swift hold on to this top position better. The Maruti Swift is powered by a 1197 cc Petrol engine which puts out 83 bhp and a 1248 cc Multijet Diesel engine which puts out 74 bhp. These engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Swift DLX misses out on an automatic transmission option.

We expect Maruti to launch the next generation 2017 Maruti Swift around the end of 2017. The all-new 2017 Swift looks sportier and more premium than the current model. We expect it to feature re-tuned engines. Underpinning the 2017 Swift should be new Baleno’s lightweight platform.
