Ahead of the launch of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift, the existing model has received a price hike. Note that I have been reporting about the arrival of the new-gen Swift in India for a while now. In fact, it has already been launched in Japan, the UK and Ireland in the last few months. In India, we could see the new-gen Swift launch by mid-2024. For now, let us take a look at the details of the price hike levied on the current model of one of the most popular hatchbacks in India ever.

Maruti Swift Price Hike
The largest carmaker in the country has announced that the prices of the top ZXi+ trim have been increased by a jaw-dropping Rs 39,000. That is a significant price hike. Apart from that, the VXi, VXi AMT and VXi CNG variants have witnessed a price rise of Rs 15,000. Note that it is not uncommon for carmakers to raise the prices of the cars before the launch of the next-gen version. In this manner, I feel the carmakers create a cushion for when they will have to offer discounts to clear the stock once the new model launches.
The upcoming new-gen Maruti Swift will be quite different from the current model in terms of the powertrain. It will mark the departure of the current K Series petrol mill and the arrival of the new Z Series engine. The latter will boast a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder unit which will be more efficient with the mild hybrid technology. The power and torque outputs will see slight variantions in comparison to the current model. Apart from that, the new Swift will bring aesthetic modifications, as well as the addition of a few new features along with a redesigned cabin layout.

Author’s Note
Maruti Swift is one of the most successful vehicles in the Indian automobile market ever. It has been around since 2005. Even though the moniker is almost 2 decades old, the demand for the hatchback is still at an all-time high. To Maruti’s credit, it has updated it from time to time to keep the potential buyers interested. Furthermore, Maruti cars come with an extensive support system including a dense service network, sales showrooms, and the ease of availability of the spare parts. All in all, Maruti Suzuki knows the mindset of Indian consumers and offers products accordingly. The new Swift will be no different.
