The 2018 Maruti Swift stood as the best-selling car in India for the month of September 2018. Maruti Suzuki cars held the top 6 spots on the list.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift has topped the charts as the largest selling car in India for the month of September 2018. This top spot, which was held by the Alto 800 since ages, has now been taken over by the new boy in Maruti’s product portfolio.
The Maruti Swift’s latest generation iteration made its debut in India in the month of February this year. Since its launch, this compact hatchback has been a rising star for Maruti. The new Swift clocked an impressive sales figure month after month.
In fact, the demand for this vehicle is such that it has already crossed the 1 lakh sales mark. Consequently, this has lead to huge waiting periods which extend to more than 4 months.

For the month of September 2018, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 22,228 units of Swift hatchback in India. During August 2018, 19,115 units of the Maruti Swift were sold in India.
But it is not only the Maruti Swift which has performed well for the Indo-Japanese automaker for September 2018. In fact, the top 6 spots on the list were held by Maruti Suzuki cars.

The Alto 800, Dzire, Baleno, Brezza and Wagon R held the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth spot on the list respectively. Not only this, the tenth best-selling car in India for the said month was the Maruti Celerio.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, in the second spot, sold a total of 21,719 units. Following the Alto closely is the Dzire with 21,296 units sold for the same period. In the fourth sport, the Maruti Baleno clocked 18,631 units.

Furthermore, the Vitara Brezza and the Wagon R Stood at 14,425 and 13,353 units respectively. The Maruti Celerio’s sales stand at 9,208 units.
Another interesting detail which may not come as a surprise is that all the rest of the places on the list were taken up by Hyundai. Behind the Maruti Wagon R, in the seventh-place is the Hyundai Elite i20. This premium hatchback stands with a sales figure of 12,380 units for September 2018.

In the eight place is the Maruti Swift rival Hyundai Grand i10. This compact hatchback has a sales figure of 11,224 units. In the ninth place if the Hyundai Creta compact SUV. This one managed a sales figure of 11,000 units for September 2018.
The upcoming festive season will see a steep rise in the sales of all vehicles. With several new vehicles lined up for the closing month of 2018, it would be interesting to see how the top-selling list takes shape with several new players entering in the market.
