Maruti Swift AMT variant could be launched in near future
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country’s largest selling car manufacturer, has already tasted enough success with the Celerio’s AMT variant. Also, the Celerio has been almost single-handedly responsible for introducing Indian car market to Automated Manual Transmissions (AMT). Maruti recently launched the refreshed Alto K10 with an AMT and now, if various rumours are to be believed, the manufacturer intends to come up with an AMT variant of its popular supermini, the Swift! The new Maruti Swift AMT launch could take place around the end of this year, and here, in this post, we have put together all the available details on the speculated Maruti Swift AMT variant,.

Price
The Maruti Swift AMT price will be kept around INR 45,000 higher than the manual transmission equipped variant.
Fuel Mileage
AMT variant of the Swift will be more frugal than the current variants and its ARAI-certified fuel mileage could be in the region of 26.2 km/l.
Specification
Except for the advent of the Automated Manual Transmission, the Swift would remain unchanged in this department. The AMT variant, in all likelihood, will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. This means that the AMT-equipped Swift will be powered by the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines.
The AMT for Maruti Suzuki comes from Italy-based Magneti Marelli. Currently, the component manufacturer is busy setting up a manufacturing facility in India. The establishment of this production facility would enable Magnetti Marelli to fulfill the high demand for AMT units. Ultimately, it would lead to the disappearance of the waiting period for Maruti AMT models. Our guess is that the AMT variant will also head to the Swift Dzire and the Ertiga.
