The upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC electric MPV has been digitally rendered by a famed automobile artist. The largest carmaker in India has been a bit late to the EV party. Its upcoming eVX electric SUV has been planned for a launch later this year. However, there are also many reports which suggest that we might see the eVX-based electric MPV by September 2026. Maruti Suzuki is calling it YMC internally. Let us glance at this digital illustration to see what it could potentially look like.

This virtual avatar comes from Carscoops. At the front, it carries familiar visuals which are evidently inspired by the eVX concept. There are V-shaped LED DRLs, a sleek LED headlamp cluster, a short bonnet, a rather plain bonnet with vertical aero elements on either side and a rugged skid plate to impose a sporty appearance. On the sides, one gets to witness a subtle design language with a single sharp crease which runs from the front fender, all the way back to the taillamps.

In fact, there are also futuristic alloy wheels with aero covers to aid with drag coefficient. The A, B and C pillars are black and the roof is also black. It lends a floating roof effect. Interestingly, the ORVMs look too small to be traditional mirrors and too large for digital cameras. Hence, we can’t be sure of which approach the digital artist has taken. But the overall silhouette is very much in line with orthodox MPVs which we are used to seeing on our roads for years.

Specs
While there are no official announcements about this electric MPV, it is logical to assume that it will share its platform with 27PL skateboard architecture and powertrain options with the eVX. The eVX is likely to feature either a 40 kWh or a 60 kWh battery pack, capable of powering either a single-motor setup for a 2WD configuration or a dual-motor setup for AWD. The peak power available is estimated to range between 138 to 170 hp. Remarkably, the vehicle is expected to offer a range of approximately 550 km. In terms of dimensions, the eVX is anticipated to measure around 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase that outpaces its segment. Hence, a lot of elements on the YMC could be similar.

Author’s Note
Maruti Suzuki is planning EVs in mass market segments of the country. This includes mid-size SUV and MPV categories. Even though companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai and MG Motors have taken the lead in this space, Maruti wants to ensure that there is a concrete business plan in place to sell EVs in high numbers before launching products. As the Indian automobile industry gets used to EVs, the largest carmaker is prepping for dedicated products to grab the attention of potential buyers. We shall have to wait a bit longer to know more details.
