Bookings for the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R have crossed the 12,000 mark since they were opened just a couple of week ahead of the January 23rd launch.
The third generation iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R made its debut in India this week. It is priced starting from INR 4.19 lakh, for the base 1.0-litre manual variant with the top-spec, 1.2-litre, with the AMT gearbox retailing at INR 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings for the new iteration of this hatchback commenced a week ahead of its launch. A report published in Autocar India states that until now Maruti Suzuki has received more than 12,000 orders for the car. And that dealers are expecting them to increase in the days to come.

The Wagon R has been one of the largest selling products for the Indo-Japanese automaker in India. At the time of the launch, senior Maruti Suzuki management shared to the media that so far the company has sold 2.2 million units of this vehicle in our country.
The third generation of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R then, with its improved styling and with its sizable increase in terms of features, is sure to appeal to the buyer looking for a dependable and ergonomic family hatchback.

With this generation update, the Maruti Wagon R comes with, for the first time, a touchscreen infotainment system. This is the same Smartplay system that we have seen in other Maruti cars however, here is features a new version and hence projects a new user interface. This system, available only on the top-spec ZXI trims, comes with Android Auto and Apple Car PLay connectivity. Also for the first time, the Wagon R now comes with steering mounted control for audio and Bluetooth telephony.
The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is based on an all-new platform. This is the same HEARTECT platform which currently underpins all the new generation vehicles that we have seen from the automaker in the recent past. In addition to its lightweight construction, this platform if rigid and hence safer in comparison to the older one.

Standard safety features in the new Wagon R include driver side airbag, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors along with high speed alert system.
The engine specifications of the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R include a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
