As Hyundai Venue takes on the market, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has come under threat and to revive it, Maruti is offering new 5 year warranty on the Brezza.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has long been the best selling compact-SUV in the country. Many new players have joined the segment over the years but the none could budge the Vitara Brezza of its position of the best seller. However, with the coming of the Hyundai Venue, the Brezza seems to be under some threat. To keep the Vitara Brezza as the best selling in the segment, Maruti Suzuki is offering a new warranty scheme on the Brezza.
Maruti Suzuki has been selling about 15,000 units of the Vitara Brezza on average every month. However, last month, Maruti only sold around 8,000 units of the Brezza. Meanwhile, Hyundai managed an almost similar number for the Venue last month as well. To revive the Vitara Brezza, Maruti is now offering a 5-year comprehensive warranty on the Vitara Brezza along with benefits worth Rs. 30,000.
Until now, Maruti has been offering a standard warranty of two years and 40,000 km on the Vitara Brezza. One of course had the option of extending the warranty to 5 years or 1 lakh kilometers but that was an optional extra. With this new offer however, Maruti is ceratinly trying to make up for lost ground. Maruti even launched a ‘Sports Limited Edition’ variant of the Vitara Brezza some time ago which mainly sports some body kit and decals to enhance the looks.

As for the Venue, it has been doing rather well in the market. It has brought good sales for Hyundai, so much that Hyundai even gained a 2% market share after the launch of the Venue. Moreover, the base price of the Venue is about Rs. 1 lakh cheaper than that of the Brezza. Given that the Venue is a much newer car, it also offers great value for money as it packs in much more features than the Brezza.

Maruti had also announced that they would discontinue all their diesel engines. This means that the Vitara Brezza which only comes with a diesel engine now will be replaced with a petrol version. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki will use the 1.2-litre DualJet SHVS petrol engine on the Vitara Brezza which produces around 91 Bhp of power and around 120 Nm of torque. It remains to be seen how the warranty package and the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza converts into sales for Maruti Suzuki.
