Maruti Suzuki revealed that they will be displaying 660 CC Small Cars At Auto Expo 2012– MR Wagon, Palette. Few days back we brought you a report that new Japanese Domestic Model (JDM) of Suzuki Alto Eco delivers whooping mileage of 32 Km per litre of petrol. A similar JDM Suzuki Alto (may or may not be Alto Eco) has been spotted on Indian roads recently. The car was without any camouflage or covering and may appear to be a Maruti A-star from a distance, bit its Suzuki JDM Alto which is very different from Maruti Suzuki A-Star which is a larger engined car. the JDM Alto is powered by a compact 660 CC fuel efficient petrol engine and delivers a power of close to 54 BHP with 97 Nm peak torque.

The JDM Alto car does not have a temporary license plate or test badge, rather it is registered in Gurgaon Haryana where Maruti Suzuki’s base plant and test track is located. The car was seen on a road test and might be a part of feasibility study of Introducing Kei platform small cars in India. If the car is found to be suitable for Indian road conditions and performs well, it will require lesser modifications in the longer run when it will be modified for Indian production versions.

The JDM Alto is a compact car with 3395 mm length, 1475 mm width and 1535 mm height. In form factor its closer to the Wagon R rather than the A-Star. The car seems to be quite practical for Indian urban commuting needs with high mileage and compact exteriors and tall boy design. It rides on 13 inch tubeless tyres for good road grip and stability.

It will be interesting to see how things shape up in coming few months for Maruti Suzuki India. We may also see JDM Alto at the Auto Expo 2012 if Maruti Suzuki is considering it as one of the Kei cars for future launch in India.
