The 3rd generation of Maruti Swift was launched this year. It received a complete makeover with some really premium features on board. Now, the recent update on the Swift is that its top-end trims get AMT options too. Earlier, the AMT was only available in VXI, VDI, ZDI and ZXI variants. The top-end ZXI+ and ZDI+ did not get optional Auto-Gear-Shift (AGS). Now, Maruti Suzuki Swift AMT is available in the top-spec trims too. The ZXI+ is priced at Rs 7.76 Lakhs and the diesel one goes from Rs 8.76 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Barring this, the hatchback receives no feature and mechanical upgrades. Features of ZXI+ and ZDI+ include touchscreen infotainment system, Electric ORVMs, 60:40 Split Rear Seat, LED Projector Headlamps with LED DRL, Engine Push Start-Stop Button with Smart Key and Auto Headlamps. The auto headlamp here refers to ‘Lead Me to Vehicle’ and ‘Follow Me Home’ lamps. For safety, it gets features such as Dual Front Airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX, Day and Night Adjustable IRVMs and reverse parking sensors with a camera. A good thing is that it offers dual airbags with ABS and EBD from the basic variant itself.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift AMT ZXI+ gets a 1.2 Litre K-Series petrol and a 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine. The petrol one churns out 81.8 BHP of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine produces 83.1 BHP of power and 120 Nm of max torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed Manual transmission along with an optional Auto Gear Shift (AGS). The mileage figure for the petrol variant 22 KMPL and the diesel one is 29.4 KMPL.
Recently in June, the Swift crosses 1 Lakh sales mark in just 145 days. It is the first Indian car to reach such a mark. Also, the hatchback has sold 1.9 Million units since its first launch in 2005. The hatchback is one of the most popular ones and all thanks to its new Swift. The latest iteration is built on the HEARTECT platform, which makes it lighter and much stronger.

Currently, the Swift retails from Rs 4.99 Lakhs to Rs 8.76 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Maruti Suzuki AMT variants start from Rs 6.34 Lakhs for the petrol and Rs 7.34 Lakhs for the diesel variant. In its segment, it is one of the costliest yet highest selling hatchbacks. Its competitors include Ford Figo, Hyundai Grande i10, Tata Tiago and Honda Brio.
