The most logical competitor for the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is the Renault Kwid and while it measures bigger than the Alto K10, its actually smaller than the Kwid in dimensions.
Maruti Suzuki is launching an all new mini-hatchback after a long time and it’s not even a month away. Ahead of the launch of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso on September 30, we have the dimensions of the this hatchback. The S-Presso is essentially an entry level hatchback with styling elements of an SUV.

The most logical competitor for the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in the Indian market is the Renault Kwid. While the S-Presso measures bigger than the Alto K10, its actually not bigger than the Kwid. The S-Presso measures a significant 114 mm shorter in length than the Kwid which means it also has a wheelbase that is shorter than the Kwid by 42 mm. The Renault Kwid is also 59 mm wider than the S-Presso.

Where the latter has a little edge over the Kwid is with its height as it measures a considerable 86 mm taller than the Kwid and that should free a lot of headspace in the cabin of the car. As for the ground clearance, both cars stand identical at 180 mm and their fuel tanks also measure almost the same, the Kwid having the capacity to hold a liter more, at 28 Liters. As for wheel sizes, the S-Presso again has the edge here. It wears 14-inch wheels wrapped in 165/70-section tyres while the Kwid gets smaller 13-inch wheels with 155/80-section tyres.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will just come with one engine option. It will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K10B petrol engine which will put out about 68hp and 90Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox and will also have the option of a 5-speed AMT. It will be offered in a total of four variants and is expected to be priced around Rs 3.5-4.7 lakh.
