A leaked RTO document reveals specifications and variant details of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso CNG. It will use a 1.0 liter engine with 59PS of power.
Maruti Suzuki will soon be launching the S-Presso with a 1.0 liter CNG engine. A recently leaked RTO document reveals the specification and variant details of the upcoming S-Presso CNG. This will not only make the CNG S-Presso cleaner and more pocket friendly to run, but it will also appeal to fleet car services. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso CNG will also be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso CNG will be powered by a BS-6 compliant 1.0 liter engine that is also found in its petrol sibling. But, the CNG variant develops 59PS of power and 68PS in the petrol model. In fact, the CNG unit develops the same power as the standard model in its petrol-only mode. The S-Presso CNG will be offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox and there will be no AMT gearbox on offer.
The CNG variant of the S-Presso will be offered on the following variants – XI, LXI (O), VXI and VXI (O). It will however not be offered on the range topping VXI+ trim. The VXI+ trim has been kept reserved for the petrol model only. This means that you will miss out on features like the touchscreen infotainment, steering-mounted audio controls, internally adjustable ORVMs, and body coloured door handles on the top variant of the CNG models.

Prices for the S-Presso CNG are expected to cost Rs 50,000 more than its respective petrol-only variants. Currently, the S-Presso is priced from Rs 3.69 lakh to Rs 4.91 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, Maruti Suzuki had reported that it’ll offer CNG as a fuel-efficient alternative to its smaller cars. Hence, we expect the S-Presso CNG to be launched sooner than later. Further, the Swift and Dzire are also expected to come with a cleaner CNG variant.

Along with a new petrol engine, the Vitara Brezza will also see a significant cosmetic makeover. What we are really looking forward to see at the 2020 Auto Expo is the Futuro-e concept. The Maruti Futuro-E is an all-electric concept that will be a design study for the next-generation mobility solutions. It will target the UV space in India with an aim to attract the aspirational youth.
