Maruti Suzuki is trying to keep the Maruti R3 SUV under the cover until its official launch which is usually does with most of its new launches. But there is a series of pictures of Maruti R3 MPV which have already broken through on the online automobile websites. This time around, its not just some spy shots from road or under camouflage, but clear pictures from all three major angles of the car. These spy shots clearly show the front, side and rear view of Maruti R3 MPV in white colour.

At first looks, it looks like a fusion of Maruti Ritz and Maruti Wagon R. The front profile is more like Ritz and side profile is more like the Wagon R. The Maruti R3 is a 5 door MPV with large wheelbase and small overhang ahead of the front wheels which is good for a tall MPV as it will keep it more planted on toad. The wheel arches are bulged out slightly like the Maruti Swift design. The front and rear windshields and side glasses are kept large sweeping right till the rear top tip giving it a well lit and spacious look. The actual dimensions of the R3 are sleek and smaller compared to the Toyota Innova which is the closest competition for the R3 in terms of sales volumes in MPV market in India. Also the Mahindra Xylo is a strong competitor with aggressive pricing and good features to offer.

Maruti is expected to price it quite competitively as the R3 is an Indian design and is expected to have very high degree of localization with minimal use of imported components. This will give Maruti a price advantage of Innova and Xylo.

Going by the looks of Maruti R3, its is quite visible that it’s a 6 to 7 seater MPV (with different seat options) with good quality of Interiors and good space. The dashboard has been designed with inspiration from Swift. the front profile looks very much like Ritz. The width of the R3 has been deliberately kept very constrained as to make it suitable for congested India roads. The height is tall and gives it a Wagon R like appearance in terms of proportions from the side view of the car.
The rear of R3 MPV looks quite simple with wraparound tail lamps being only thing which appeals to eyes. The wheelbase and ground clearance both have been kept amply high for good ride quality even on bad roads of India with fully loaded car. The R3 does not look as aerodynamic or visually appealing as Innova, but it has a huge advantage of Maruti tag, Maruti service centers and wide dealership network. We are keeping an eye on the developments and will bring you more as it happens.
