A new report claims that Maruti is going to launch the Jimny in India by the festive season, in November. It was recently unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020.
After discontinuing the Gypsy permanently, Maruti Jimny was considered as the ideal replacement. While the rumours are still rife about it coming to India, a new report claims that Maruti is going to launch the Jimny in India for sure.
The report claims that Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships have received the notification for it. Maruti Jimny India launch is reportedly to happen in November this year. We recently saw it showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

In the global markets, Jimny is available in 3-door and 5-door versions. However, we will mostly get it as a 5-door SUV only. Maruti will position it below the Vitara Brezza in terms of pricing. Also, it would not be a Nexa product but sold from Arena showrooms.
Jimny will use a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine from the bigger Maruti models. The motor is capable of putting out 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options might include a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a 4-speed AT.
Features for off-roading might include Rear Differential locking or a low gear transfer case. Just like Gypsy, it will fill the void of an affordable and low maintenance off-road friendly car. But, it will also appeal to the SUV enthusiasts who will just use it as a lifestyle car and not for off-roading.

Jimny will come packed with enough features like the touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC, alloy wheels, steering mounted audio controls and more. While the global-spec Jimny is just about 3.8 metres long, we might get a slightly longer version. Our price expectations for the SUV range from Rs 6 Lakhs to Rs 8 Lakhs.
