The Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift gets subtle cosmetic changes on the outside, remains unchanged inside and gets a BS6 complaint petrol engine as well.
Maruti Suzuki has quite a few important cars to showcase and launch at the 2020 Auto Expo. They are going to launch the Vitara Brezza facelift petrol and also showcase the Future-E concept along with the XL5. Now, according to a report by Zigwheels, Maruti Suzuki will also be launching the Ignis facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo. The facelifted model will come with minor cosmetic updates inside out and possibly a BS6-compliant petrol engine.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift gets subtle cosmetic changes but they still give the car a significant makeover. The 2020 Ignis gets a new grille with a chrome border which seem to have been inspired from the Espresso. The chrome element also encompasses the headlamps, making them appear as a single unit. The headlamp cluster itself seems to be mildly updated but it continues with the U-shaped LED DRLs. Also, there are new round fog lamps as well. The car also gains rugged bumpers with skid plates both on the front and the rear.
It is only the face which receives the most amount of changes on the facelifted model. Going by the international-spec Ignis facelift, we can tell you that there are not many changes on the side and rear of the car. The overall silhouette, alloy wheels and even the tail lamps look similar to the existing model. The only change to the rear are the new bumpers with new reflector elements and skid plates.

We do not expect any significant changes on the interiors though. The dashboard layout is going to remain identical but it could see subtle updates like new upholstery and a different colour scheme. It could also come with Maruti’s updated 7.0-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system. Features on board the 2020 Ignis will include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted audio control, a multi-info display as well as keyless entry with push button start. Expected safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert as well as driver and co-driver seat-belt warning.

Under the hood, the 2020 Ignis facelift will be powered by Maruti Suzuki’s BS6-compliant 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine. The engine produces 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. We expect the Ignis facelift to be offered with both manual and AMT options. The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift is expected to be a tad more expensive than the current model’s starting price of Rs 4.74 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Ignis facelift will rival the Ford Figo, Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
