This will be the second SUV that is made in India and exported to the home market of Japan
Maruti Suzuki India has become a major manufacturing hub for the Japanese car marque as it will export the Jimny 5-Door to Japan. Note that Japan is the home market for the Jimny. Hence, to receive it in the native country from India is a testament to India’s manufacturing prowess. Also, it has become the second SUV after Fronx to be made in India and then exported to Japan. The 5-door Jimny is the enlarged iteration of the regular 3-door version. The former boasts enhanced practicality without compromising the off-roading traits. For now, let us take a look at the details here.
Maruti Suzuki Starts Exporting 5-Door Jimny to Japan
The made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has made its official debut in Japan. This is the same SUV which is already on sale in India. Note that the Indian Jimny has already been exported to many international markets including South Africa and Australia. Similarly, Japan will be the next market to receive it. Remember Suzuki has already sold more than 3.5 million units of Jimny worldwide. Hence, this is one of the most successful monikers from the Japanese car marque for over 5 decades. However, this is the first time in its history that it gets a 5-door trim.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The introduction of โMade in Indiaโ Jimny 5-door in Japan is a testament to the global level of excellence in our manufacturing capability. It is our second model to be exported to Japan in this fiscal year (FY 2024-25) after Fronx in August 2024. Jimny is the second most exported Maruti Suzuki car in FY 2024-25 . After its resounding success in markets like Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are confident that it will delight customers in Japan. The export of Jimny reaffirms our commitment towards โMake-in-India for the worldโ.โ
