Maruti Suzuki has showcased the eWX concept electric car at the Bangkok Motorshow. It looks like Maruti Suzuki is finally waking up to the idea of electric vehicles. It has surely been a bit late to the party. This is true not just for its India portfolio, but the global lineup too. However, it wants to ensure that once it enters the EV market, there are enough volumes to make for a great business case. We already witnessed the eVX concept SUV from Suzuki earlier. Now the eWX is going to be the next EV. Let us take a look at the details here.

Maruti Suzuki eWX Concept Electric Car
This post comes from Bunny Punia on YouTube. The visuals capture the details of the concept EV from the outside, as well as inside. At the front, there is a rectangular frame which runs the entire width of the car. This contains LED lighting and a Suzuki logo encapsulated in the centre. Apart from that, the front fascia contains a rugged skid plate/bumper with a 3D effect and vertically oriented fog lamps. Moreover, it gets an upright bonnet. On the sides, we can see the aerodynamic-styled alloy wheels and a thick cladding running continuously from the front bumper to the rear bumper in a single frame. It bears an upright stance with a boxy silhouette. The LED light frame is replicated at the rear with the red colour, making it the brake light. The other lights are also positioned vertically just like in the front.

Interior and Features
While the video highlights the walkaround tour of the exterior, we also get a glimpse of the cabin through the open doors. The dashboard layout is minimalist with a clean appearance. The steering wheel is almost rectangular and there are two spokes on it. The digital instrument cluster and infotainment display are connected and there is a large open area underneath the dashboard. That is a typical EV design characteristic. The door panels, central storage area and light upholstery are the other features of the cabin. Since this is just a concept, there are frameless windows as well.

Author’s Note
It is clear that Maruti Suzuki doesn’t want to lag behind in this EV race. It is the largest carmaker in India. Maruti has maintained that position since its inception. However, Tata Motors is the king of the EV market at the moment. Maruti has specifically mentioned that it will not sell EVs until the demand is high. Finally, it announced that we will eventually see the launch of the eVX electric SUV by the end of this year. Therefore, we can assume that the eWX could be seen in the flesh by next year.
