The reason for Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sales figure to be so positive this time around is because of the introduction of the new 1.5L, diesel engine. Also, the Brezza has some stiff competition now.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has for the first time made its way into the top 10 best selling cars in any particular month for the month of May, 2019. It even outsold the Vitara Brezza which is one of Maruti’s best selling cars. This sales achievement would have been an impossible feat about an year ago but the recent engine update to the Ertiga seems to have turned things a little positive for the Ertiga.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sales stood at 8,864 units for the month of May. The Vitara Brezza sold 8,781 units for the same time period. Although the margin is small, it is still big news that the Ertiga has made it into the top 10 list at the 9th spot. The best selling car for May was the Maruti Suzuki Swift followed by the Alto in second spot.
The reason for Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sales figure to be so positive this time around is because of the introduction of the new 1.5L, diesel engine. The other reason why the Ertiga could edge ahead of the Vitara Brezza is because the Brezza now has stiff competition. After the introduction of the XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue, the Brezza has seen a drop in numbers because these cars have been doing rather well.
Apart from the new 1.5L, diesel engine, the Ertiga also comes with a 1.5 Litre petrol engine, that produces 104 BHP at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the option of a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine uses a 6-speed MT and no AT/AMT. The petrol Ertiga claims to offer a mileage of 19.34 kmpl and the diesel variant offers 18.69 kmpl.
