The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross essentially gets some additional body cladding with a revised face, a 6-seater layout, increased ground clearance and a BS-VI engine.
We had been speculating a cross variant of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga for a long time now and just yesterday, spy images of the Ertiga Cross spotted testing in Pune surfaced on the internet. The car was under heavy camouflage and was even wearing some BS-VI emissions testing equipment. While not much is still known about the Ertiga Cross, here’s what we think you can expect from the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross.
Design
Well, let’s start with what’s most evident. While most of the body panels are similar to the regular Ertiga, the front seems to have been completely redesigned. The nose is more upright with a raised bonnet and also sports a larger grille. The headlamps too have been redesigned with LED DRLs and a chrome band in between. The bumper is more aggressive and gets larger air intakes.
At the sides, the Ertiga Cross gets some more body claddings and also roof rails. At the rear, the tail lamps have been tweaked slightly and the bumpers also look more aggressive to give it a rugged stance. The Ertiga Cross could also get new color options as well.
Interiors
Not much could be deciphered from the spy shots about the interiors of the Ertiga Cross. However, from what was visible, we can tell that the Ertiga Cross will feature an all-black theme for its interiors. Another big highlight are the captain seats on the second row. It means that this Ertiga will strictly be a 6-seater, opening up more free space on the interior.
It might also get some contrast stitching on the seats and will perhaps feature the ‘Cross’ badging here and there. On the features front, the car could get a sunroof, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps and a better entertainment system at most.

Engine Options
The Ertiga Cross was seen wearing BS-VI emissions testing equipment which means it will certainly come with a BS-VI compliant engine. We are speculating that the engine under the hood will be the 1.5L, K15B petrol engine which will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There’s only one engine option at the moment and no, there’s no diesel engine on offer. Also, the Ertiga Cross will come with increased ground clearance and will also be wearing different tires. Nobody will ever take the Ertiga off-road but the look sure does help.

Price and Launch
The Ertiga Cross is under development right now and the vehicle is expected to launch in the next six months, probably around the festive season. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross will be sold through the premium Nexa outlets and it will sit as the top-spec Ertiga in the Ertiga’s range. Being the top model, it will come fully loaded with all bells and whistles and will be priced around Rs. 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom). A Cross variant of the Ertiga would sure give a welcome refresh to the Ertiga in India.
