Suzuki has finally revealed its first battery electric vehicle ever – the e Vitara
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has finally been revealed as we compare the specifications with the Tata Nexon EV. Note that the e Vitara has been unveiled in Europe and marks a new chapter in Suzuki’s long history. In fact, it had received a lot of flak from car experts and customers for not delving into the EV race. Nevertheless, the e Vitara is the answer to all that criticism and an indication of things to come. The Japanese auto giant has showcased the specifications and dimensions of the electric SUV. Here are the details.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara vs Tata Nexon EV – Specs
Based on the HEARTECT-e architecture, Suzuki e Vitara comes in two trims with either a 49 kWh or a 61 kWh LFP battery pack. The top version with the larger battery pack will offer a 4WD configuration. With these batteries, the power and torque outputs range from 142 hp / 189 Nm to 172 hp / 189 Nm and 181 hp / 300 Nm (AWD). There are two independent eAxles to complete the ALLGRIP-e technology to enable 4WD. It boasts a ground clearance of 180 mm. The curb weight ranges from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg. It will wear 18- or 19-inch alloys with ventilated disc brakes on both wheels. More details pertaining to the range, charging times, acceleration, etc. will emerge later.
On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV is also available in two variants – Medium Range (MR) with a 30.2 kWh battery pack and Long Range (LR) with a 40.5 kWh battery pack. The result are healthy range figures of 325 km and 465 km, respectively. Apart from that, the power and torque numbers range from 127 hp / 215 Nm to 143 hp / 215 Nm, respectively. Unlike the e Vitara, the Nexon EV is on sale only in 2WD configuration. Accelerating the EV from 0 to 100 km/h just takes 8.9 seconds. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be juiced up from 10% to 100% in just 56 minutes.
