Maruti Suzuki year-on-year sales dip by 17% for the month of April 19′. Is it a thing to worry for the country’s largest automaker?
A dropdown of April sales by 17%, Maruti Suzuki, India’s bestseller carmaker shared the in-depth report of their sales chart. The carmaker sold a total of 143,245 units as compared to 172,986 units which were sold last year for the same month.
Among the total, The Ciaz suffered the most with just 2789 units sold for April 19’. A dropdown of about 45% as compared to last year when the Ciaz sold about 5116 units for April 18’. Reports said that the dropdown in sales is mainly due to the low demand in passenger vehicles.
However, Maruti Suzuki saw an increase in export sales by 14.6%
with numbers increasing to 9177 units compared to 8008 units sold last year.

The sub-segment, entry level, saw a total sales of 22,766 units while the compact segment saw sales of 72,146 units. However, the utility segment which consists of Ertiga, S-cross and Vitara Brezza saw an increase in sales by 5%. The total number of sales were reported for April 19’ are 22,035 units.
Maruti Suzuki has made an official statement that the carmaker will soon stop the production of any diesel cars come April 1, 2020. The company will move further to stricter norms which will follow BS-VI compliance.
The enhancement of the diesel engine with BS-VI compliance will be very high and thus will affect the consumers in the end, which is the sole reason they will stop the production of diesel engine cars as it won’t be cost effective.

All their utility vehicle segment will feature petrol powertrain soon and will come with BS-VI compliance. However, if the demand in diesel engine rises and it is economical to run then the company may uplift the ban on diesel vehicles but that’s too far from now.
