Maruti Fronx Crumple Zone Explained
This video comes from Maruti Suzuki on YouTube. It captures the entire testing procedure. Before sending a car for mass production, Maruti Suzuki performs 50 tests on its vehicles. These are done to test the build quality of the exterior and the efficacy of the passive safety features and equipment like airbags and crumple zones. In essence, the car is divided into two parts – two crumple zones at the front and rear, and a safety zone in between. The crumple zones are designed to absorb the impact from both ends. These components are designed to easily crumple so as to reduce the impact of the collision. Apart from that, the video also showcases the dummies used for crash tests. These are calibrated in such a manner that a real-life situation is created. They are placed on the seats accordingly. After the crash, the damage to these dummies is also recorded to infer the kind of damage the real occupants would sustain. Finally, after the collision, the condition of the cabin is analysed to see how well the elements behaved during the crash.
