Maruti Suzuki Ciaz vs Hyundai Verna- Exterior and Dimensions
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has not received any updates in a long time and the exterior styling and dimensions have remained pretty much the same since its inception. This includes LED Projector Headlamps, a new front grille with Chrome surrounds, LED DRLs, Chrome Housing for the LED fog lamps, sporty bumper and much more. The sides feature distinct character lines with alloy wheels and a textured window beltline. The rear house the LED pattern taillamps, Chrome Line on the boot lid and chrome housing for the rear brake lights on the bumper. All in all, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is a decently looking car with proper sedan dimensions.
The Hyundai Verna has always been a modern and bold-looking sedan and the latest generation version is no different. On the outside, the Verna continues to be bold and modern with Projector LED headlamps, Cornering Lamps, Large Front Dark Chrome Radiator Grille, Projector Fog Lamps, LED DRLs and sporty bumper. On the side, the chrome door handles stand out along with the chrome belt underneath the window line, B-Pillar Blacked Out Tape, 16-inch Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels and sharp creases for a sophisticated elegant look. The rear houses the LED taillamps, Shark Fin Antenna, Sporty Bumper, Twin Tip Muffler and Chrome line running on the bumper. Overall, the Verna looks very modern and elegant all-around.

While the overall dimensions of both these executive sedans are almost identical, the major point of difference is in the lengths. This also translates into the wheelbase. The Ciaz has a longer wheelbase which means that there is better interior space for the rear passengers. The Ciaz also has a slightly bigger boot than Verna.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz comes with a sole petrol engine option. It has a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 105 PS and 138 Nm mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter. This engine is a mild hybrid system that enhances the fuel economy of the Ciaz. There is no diesel engine on offer from Maruti Suzuki across its lineup. The prices of the Ciaz range between Rs 8.52 lakh and Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Hyundai Verna comes with a whole host of engine-gearbox combination options including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 115 PS and 250 Nm and a powerful 1.0-litre direct-injection turbo petrol making 120 PS and 171 Nm. The naturally aspirated petrol engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or CVT, the 1.5-litre diesel comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol comes with a sole 7-speed DCT transmission. The prices of the Hyundai Verna start at Rs 9.19 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 15.25 lakh, ex-showroom.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz vs Hyundai Verna- Verdict
Like we mentioned before, both these sedans have their strengths and weaknesses. If you are someone who doesn’t want a diesel engine and wants to save some money but still get all the relevant features, you can opt for the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. However, if you want more options for engines and transmissions, more features of comfort and convenience, and don’t mind spending a bit more, Hyundai Verna is the one for you.
