One of the well known automobile market leaders, Maruti has recalled 3796 units of Maruti Ciaz sedan in India. This voluntary Maruti Suzuki Ciaz recall campaign is undertaken to rectify issues pertaining to the clutch operating system of the car. This campaign recalls those manual transmission Ciaz cars which were manufactured till 7th November 2014. Maruti suspects that there may be faults in the relevant part of clutch operation system which needs to be replaced. Maruti Suzuki dealers have already started contacting the customers.
This campaign is being undertaken in the interest of the customers and those clutch issues will be resolved which may potentially serve as trouble to the customers says Maruti. Whole process of inspection and replacement, if necessary will be undertaken free of cost and customers will not have to pay for the same.
Maruti Suzuki dealers across India have already started to communicate with the customers. Alternatively, the customers can visit the official Maruti Suzuki website and check if their car is among the ones impacted by the issue. The customers will have to type their chassis number (which may be found written on registration documents and ID plate of the vehicle) on the official website. There is one more way of knowing if the car is being impacted, the customers can directly reach the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealership and get it checked if their car is listed among the impacted cars.
Maruti Ciaz sedan which replaces the SX4 sedan is a gorgeous car with elegant aesthetics and unmatched performance. It is sold in petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant of Ciaz is powered by 1373 cc petrol engine producing 68 PS of maximum power at 6000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm while the diesel variant of Ciaz sedan is powered by 1248 cc diesel engine which churns out 66 PS of maximum power at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. It is available with a 5 speed manual transmission or a 4 speed automatic transmission. Manual gearbox is available in both petrol and diesel variant, while automatic is available only in petrol variant. The dimensions of the car are 4490 x 1730 x 1485 mm (length, width and height respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2650 mm and ground clearance of 170 mm. It is available at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh (Delhi ex-showroom).
This is not the first time that Maruti has recalled its cars to rectify faults. Earlier this year, Maruti recalled 69,555units of its cars including Maruti Swift, Dzire And Ritz which were manufactured between March 2010 and August 2013. This recall was made rectify possible fault in the wiring harness fitment.
In April 2014 also, Maruti Suzuki announced recall of 1,03,311 units of Swift, Ertiga and Dzire in India to repair defective fuel-filler neck. This recall included the cars which were manufactured between 12 November 2013 and 4 February 2014.
