Our sources on the condition of anonymity have revealed that the Maruti S-Presso will be launched in India on 30th September. The hatchback will go against Datsun Redi-GO and Renault Kwid.
Maruti has cleared all the air about the S-Presso, and the upcoming hatchback is indeed set to launch next month. Sources close to the happening have confirmed that the India launch of Maruti S-Presso is indeed set for 30th of September.
Further, Maruti will place the S-Presso between Alto K10 and WagonR, basically priced between Rs 3.5 Lakhs to Rs 4.5 Lakhs. It will squarely go against the Renault Kwid Climber and Datsun Redi-GO.
Earlier reports suggest that the S-Presso will be a micro-SUV, but going by the information now, it will be a hatchback with a high ground clearance. It will be an upright hatchback-SUV crossover, basically, like the Kwid.

Maruti will offer both the 1.0 Litre and 1.2 Litre petrol engines on the S-Presso, both in their BS-6 compliant states. The 1 Litre mill powers the Alto K10, Celerio and WagonR and is not BS-6 compliant as of now.
The 1.2 Litre petrol engine produces 83 BHP, compared to the 67 BHP from the 1 Litre engine. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed AT as an option on the top-end trim. There will be no diesel engine on offer, but Maruti could give CNG kits as an option.
The features will be the same that come on the WagonR, including the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment, Steering mounted Audio Controls, Voice Command, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety features will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and speed alert system as standard.

S-Presso will be served as an option for those who seek to buy a car with good ground clearance and is somewhat bigger than the Alto K10. With this, Maruti will cover the complete budget segment.
